Course Description
History of the Ancient World is the first of a two-year World History sequence that emphasizes a global approach to History and the development of writing and thinking skills used by historians.
- Quarter 1: Ch. 1, sec. 1 & 3 (Beginnings of Civilization); Ch. 2. sec. 1-5 (Ancient Middle East and Egypt)
- Quarter 2: Ch. 4, sec. 2-3 (Ancient Greece); Ch. 5, sec. 1-5 (Ancient Rome); Ch. 9, sec. 1 (Byzantine Empire); Ch. 10 (Muslim Civilizations)
- Quarter 3: Ch. 3 (India and China); Ch. 12 (Southeast Asia)
- Quarter 4: Ch. 11 (Kingdoms and Trading States of Africa)
The course includes two semester exams. The first one is on Friday, January 15, 2010, and it will cover all of the material in the 1st and 2nd quarters. The second one is on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, and it will cover all of the material covered in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
